Yes Carpet Is Sustainable

Is carpet sustainable? Yes, it is and here are 5 reasons why?

1. Energy efficient
Carpet is an exceptionally good natural insulator with low heat conduction values. In addition, the surface pile of the carpet, with its millions of tiny fibres, traps air and further increases its thermal insulation and improves energy consumption. Therefore, it’s estimated that energy savings of 8-13% can be achieved with the installation of carpet and as a consequence, you will see a reduction in energy costs.

2. Renewable materials
A number of our nylon ranges have been developed using Aquafil’s regenerated ECONYL® nylon yarn, which performs the same as virgin nylon but has a very different story behind it. ECONYL® is made by recovering nylon waste such as fishing nets from the oceans and turning it into virgin quality nylon.
ECONYL® regenerated nylon gives endless possibilities and can be recycled infinitely. ECONYL® regenerated nylon has less impact on climate change. It reduces the global impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with material produced from oil. Another renewable carpet yarn is wool. Wool is 100% natural, fully sustainable and biodegradable, it’s also extremely strong, static resistant and pleasing to the touch.

3. Improved indoor air quality
Following rigorous tests, our Carpet Collection has been awarded Gold Certification for Indoor Air Quality. This classification has been cited by Eurofins product testing and ensures that both our factory production and products themselves have low product emissions. This is a sign of our focus on quality and contribution to a healthy indoor environment.

4. More environmental manufacturing
Over the years all carpet manufacturers have taken steps to use less energy and water in their manufacturing processes. At danfloor, we pride ourselves in several efficiencies, including recycling the excess heat produced during manufacturing to heat the water and the office buildings. We also recycle waste material to produce the carpet tubes at the centre of our carpet rolls

5. Carpets that are built to last
Producing carpets that are built to last means that the length of time between replacements can be extended which minimises the amount and frequency of waste material potentially going to landfill. We consider those using our products on a day-to-day basis and ensure that the design and functionality of our products are fit for purpose and create a long-lasting therapeutic environment.
