Carpet Yarn

Carpet fibre determines the quality of a carpet. The fibre influences many aspects such as surface structure, colour and feel as well as the functional benefits including resilience to wear, colour fastness and soil and stain resistance.

At danfloor we use a variety of yarns, including branded yarns and yarns which we have manufactured ourselves. Whether you're looking for a natural wool carpet or carpet made from synthetic fibres we have a flooring solution for you.

prism™ yarn has a unique cross section engineered to deliver purity in colour and is combined with light refraction properties which helps to defuse visual soiling.

STAIN AND SOIL RESISTANCE

The cross section results in a rigid fibre which blocks soiling particles from sticking to the surface of the carpet therefore reducing soil adherence and assisting with the removal of dirt.

INHERENTLY ANTI-STATIC FIBRE

The prism™ fibre naturally prevents electrical charges that can sometimes be produced when in contact with such textiles.

SOLUTION DYED YARN

prism™ yarn is solution dyed which means the colouring is added to the fibre when it is formed producing a carpet with outstanding texture and colour. Furthermore it results in a carpet that can withstand commercial cleaning agents, including those with bleaching elements, without the loss of colour or appearance.

The ECONYL® nylon yarn used to create a number of our ranges, including ECONOMIX, The EVOLUTION Collection and ETON, is an important factor contributing to the integrity and resilience of the carpets and goes a long way in determining their overall performance.

Made with regenerated nylon fibres, including pre and post-industrial and consumer waste, makes the ECONYL® yarn 100% regenerated and infinitely regenerable.

IN ADDITION TO EXCELLENT ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS ECONOMIX AND THE EVOLUTION COLLECTION ARE ALSO ABLE TO OFFER A NUMBER OF OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BENEFITS:

– Class 33 heavy-commercial use certification
– 10-15 year wear warranty
– Colour fast solution dyed fibres
– On trend colour palette
– Soil and stain resistant fibres
– Spill safe impervious membrane

Nylon is a popular choice for carpet fibre mainly because of its durability, yarn elasticity and the fact that it’s relatively easy to maintain.

DURABILITY

Durability is a key performance feature of Nylon carpets. Nylon is a very strong fibre, and as such, it stands up very well to abrasion and high levels of footfall. The yarn filament prevents breaking due to the superior fibre tenacity and abrasion resistance properties. It is also highly resilient and has very good texture retention to maintain its original appearance.

COLOUR FASTNESS

The most stain resistant type of nylon is solution-dyed nylon, which locks the colour in by adding it during the production of the fibre. When the colour is part of the fibre, it is permanent and fade-resistant, which means spills are unable to attach themselves to the fibre’s cells and the fibre can also withstand the use of harsh cleaning chemicals including those that contain bleach.

Wool is strong, static resistant and pleasing to touch. The 80/20 wool mix fibre used to manufacture our wool ranges has a number of benefits that make it ideal for use in busy commercial environments including:

STRONG AND RESILIENT

Wool carpet provides superior performance, unique resilience and long lasting durability.

EASY CARE

Wool has an inbuilt resistance to soiling due to it’s natural oils and outer surface of microscopic scales.

SOFT AND WARM

Wool carpets act as an insulator improving heat retention and energy efficiency. They also absorb sound and reduce sound reverberation.

FIRE RETARDANT

Wool is naturally fire retardant and has a slow ignition rate. It also has self extinguishing properties making it ideal for contract locations.

ANTI ALLERGY

The minute scales on the fibre’s surface will hold airborne particles until vacuumed which helps to improve indoor air quality.

NATURAL AND SUSTAINABLE

Wool is 100% natural, fully sustainable and biodegradable.
