BI-OME offers a 4 log reduction of 99.99% in the presence of harmful micro-organisms including the likes of MRSA and C-Diff. It’s also been tested on enveloped viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 which is within the same family of viruses as COVID-19, and has demonstrated that it enhances the deactivation of viruses, on textile products. Carpets treated with BI-OME provide the first line of defence again the spread of infection.

Carpet has a unique ability to reduce sound impact levels and research suggests that it is 10 times more efficient in reducing noise compared to other flooring options. Background noise from inside and outside a building negatively affects learning, especially for children who require optimal conditions for hearing, comprehension, rest and relaxation.

Many studies demonstrate that carpet fibres attract and retain dust particles in its face fibre, unlike hard surfaces where such particles lie on the surface and regularly become air born. If carpets are regularly vacuumed these particles, and any allergens that are bound within the carpet fibres, are removed from the room without causing discomfort. The carpet is effectively a big filtration system which is vitally important for indoor air quality within education facilities.
