Memory Matters South West CIC is a team of nurses who work alongside other agencies to implement the National Dementia Strategy in the South West.
As part of their strategy the Memory Matters Team are opening a Social Enterprise Cafe and Dementia Hub right in the middle of Plymouth City Centre and danfloor are proud to announce that they will be supporting the development by providing carpets for The Dementia Information Space and associated rooms above the café.
The premises for the Moments Cafe have been secured and the build stage aims to start over the next few months with opening due early 2017.
The concept is a working bistro/café downstairs that will be open to the public and will be an environment for all to enjoy, but thoughtfully designed to be dementia friendly.
The added bonus of the café is that all profits will be returned to provide services to those with dementia in the community –ensuring a sustainable service that does not purely rely on grants.
This is not just a dementia café – it’s a café which offers both a social venue to meet for coffee or lunch and a place where you can go to get information, suuport and advice.
The Cafe will also support the services upstairs which will include:
The Dementia Information Space - a space for advice and support for those looking for information about dementia - this will be supported by Dementia Advisors from the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Activity Room - a place for Activity Day clubs, respite and skilled support for those living with dementia staffed by Memory Matters South West CIC
Consultation and Meeting Rooms - Where local organisations and services can offer support from legal advice clinics and benefits advice to dementia screening.
