Packaging Ensuring we review and monitor all of packaging and waste to minimise our impact on the environment and landfills and where possible re-cycle and reuse.

 

YARN
SELECTION

Carpet fibre determines the quality of a carpet. The fibre influences many aspects such as surface structure, colour and the feel of the carpet, as well as the functional benefits including resilience to wear, colour fastness and soil and stain resistance, which all prolong the life of the carpet and the time between replacements.

A number of our carpets are also manufactured using Aquafil’s regenerated ECONYL® nylon yarn, which performs exactly the same as virgin nylon but has a very different story behind it.

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING

HEAT EXTRACTION

Our manufacturing process incorporates specialised ovens to apply yarn coatings and backings, which generate excess heat. We prioritise sustainability by efficiently extracting this heat and circulating it back into the building, contributing to energy conservation.

WASTE YARN

The conscientious handling of waste yarn reflects our commitment to recycling. After a creel of yarn is used, any remaining material is meticulously stripped and recycled. This recycled yarn finds a purpose in our parent company Ulster Carpets, where it becomes part of the 100% recycled content in their AXFLET Underlay.

ENVIRONMENT

Initiatives at our UK head office include transitioning our company car fleet to electric vehicles, investing in energy-efficient LED and motion sensor lighting, and utilising 100% recycled paper. These efforts demonstrate our ongoing dedication to minimizing our environmental impact.

PLASTIC TUBES

The plastic tubes at the centre of our carpet rolls are produced in-house through a meticulous recycling process. Our backing facility transforms waste plastic into pellets, which are then melted down and remade into recycled carpet tubes.

OUR COMMITMMENT

Beyond our internal processes, we extend our commitment to environmental responsibility throughout our supply chain. Rigorous testing and assessments ensure that our products, manufacturing processes, and management consistently achieve the highest environmental standards.

THE FUTURE

Anticipating a more sustainable future, we continually review and enhance our processes. Future initiatives include the installation of solar panels, a transition to more recyclable materials, and regular company audits to refine and improve our practices. Danfloor is not just committed to environmental responsibility; we are actively shaping a sustainable tomorrow through tangible actions and continuous improvement.
