Connaught Care Lounge

Waterhaven Place

Located in the heart of Chichester, Connaught Care’s Waterhaven Place is a residential and dementia care home that provides comfort and luxury for its residents.

THE AIM

Waterhaven Place set out to combine comfort with inviting luxury throughout its new, state-of-the-art later living home, offering residential, respite, and dementia care. The goal was to create a warm, welcoming environment that enriches every moment of a resident’s stay.

To bring this vision to life, Connaught Care appointed Three Nine Design to create interior schemes that offer both personal sanctuary and opportunities for social connection. Every space was to be carefully designed to promote calm, comfort, and a sense of community.

THE SOLUTION

To fulfil the design brief, Three Nine Design focused on creating vibrant yet elegant spaces across the home’s three floors. Communal lounges and dining areas were designed to foster social interaction while maintaining a balance of luxury, warmth, and comfort. These included beautifully appointed spaces such as a cinema room that added an extra dimension to the resident experience.

Equally important was the design of the private bedrooms, a tranquil spaces where every detail was considered to help residents feel at ease and truly at home. To support this vision, danfloor carpets were specified throughout the lounges, cinema room, and bedrooms. A selection of carpets from the Equinox and Evolution collections was used to reflect the mood of each space, from bold reds and blues to enhance vibrant communal areas, to softer browns and beiges that promote rest and relaxation in the private rooms.

"Danfloor carpets are our go-to choice for every care home project, they reliably combine style and functionality, enhancing each space while meeting the practical demands of the care environment." Three Nine Design

THE OUTCOME

Waterhaven Place now lives up to its name — a true haven of tranquil luxury that offers warmth and comfort throughout. Residents, staff, and visitors alike are impressed by the quality, look, and feel of every room.
Thanks to the installation of danfloor carpets, Waterhaven Place also benefits from a flooring solution that not only complements the interior design but delivers outstanding performance:

•Extreme durability – The Evolution Collection boasts certification to British Standard classification 33, signifying its resilience for “Heavy Commercial Use.” This accreditation ensures its capability to endure substantial foot and wheeled traffic, and rigorous commercial cleaning procedures.

•Antimicrobial yarn treatment – Both the Equinox and the Evolution Collections feature Bi-Ome®, an advanced permanent antimicrobial treatment specifically crafted to eliminate harmful bacteria, including those responsible for infections such as MRSA and C. Diff.

•Spill safe – All of the selected carpets have an integral protective impervious membrane, preventing liquid spills from penetrating through to the subfloor, reducing contamination, fungal growth, and unpleasant odours.

•Naturally sound absorbent – Danfloor carpets exhibit excellent sound absorption characteristics, surpassing a 28dB reduction in sound impact levels. This contributes to the establishment of a “therapeutic environment,” fostering relaxation and effective communication for individuals within the space.

•Appearance retention – Crafted from solution-dyed Nylon and Polypropylene yarns, the Evolution and Equinox Collections present a colourfast system that locks in vibrant hues. This ensures exceptional colour and light-fastness, maintaining their brilliance even when exposed to rigorous cleaning chemicals.

•DSDC Approved Colours – Stirling University has reviewed several of our ranges and has awarded all the colours from Equinox Tones and Evolve as suitable for use within dementia design.
