The Manor House

Anchor’s refurbishment project aimed to create warm, inviting communal areas that reflect the character of the local area, while enhancing a setting that delivers high-quality care in a luxurious and relaxing environment.

THE AIM

The Manor House Knaresborough, has a great range of facilities for residents to enjoy. There is a fully equipped bar, which is in regular use by residents, and they also have a hair and beauty salon, quiet lounges and library areas.

Looking to breathe new life into the home, Anchor partnered with Hollie Allen, Creative Director at Studio Aitchay, to transform the communal spaces. The vision was to design inviting, luxurious areas that reflect the warmth and charm of the local surroundings.

THE SOLUTION

Taking into account the building’s heritage and its surrounding environment, Hollie turned to danfloor for a flooring solution that would both complement her design schemes and perform in the home’s high-traffic areas.

In the main reception area and coffee bar, Hollie selected Origin from the Evolution Collection. This design not only uplifted the overall aesthetic but also delivered many practical benefits. Its high-performance construction and integrated backing provide comfort underfoot and excellent sound absorption, enhancing acoustic comfort and supporting effective communication. In addition, the carpet’s antimicrobial treatment and impervious layer offer extra protection against the inevitable spills of a coffee bar environment.

For the corridors, Hollie chose Equinox Connect with its on-trend herringbone design, with a matching border effect, to help add visual interest while complementing the interior style. The carpet’s durable construction ensures it retains its appearance over time and supports ease of movement, allowing residents and staff to use walking aids and trolleys safely and smoothly

Danfloor is always our go to supplier for carpets due, not only to their quality and design, but also the great customer service provided from the whole team.

THE OUTCOME

Hollie’s thoughtful approach to design and material selection has transformed the communal areas of this home into stylish, high-quality spaces that feel unique and inviting.

“We enjoyed using several carpet specifications at Knaresborough, all of which complemented one another in terms of LRV and colour. The Origin carpet in the reception and coffee bar is a particular favourite and brought the whole scheme to life. Danfloor is always our go to supplier for carpets due to not only their quality and design, but also the great customer service provided by the whole team. We really enjoy working with them and look forward to collaborating on projects going forward!”

Hollie’s choice of carpets from the Evolution and Equinox Collections brings not only aesthetic appeal but also exceptional performance benefits:

• Built to last – Certified to British Standard Class 33, the Evolution Collection is made for heavy commercial use—standing up to constant footfall, wheeled traffic, and regular deep cleaning without compromise.
• Lasting protection – Treated with Bi-Ome® antimicrobial technology, the Equinox and Evolution Collections actively help reduce bacteria, including MRSA and C. diff, for a safer, healthier environment.
• Spill-safe design – An integral impervious membrane stops liquids from reaching the subfloor, helping prevent stains, odours, and bacterial growth—ideal for busy care settings.
• Soothing acoustics – With sound impact reductions of over 28dB, danfloor carpets help create calm, comfortable spaces that support relaxation and easy communication.
• Colours that last – Made from solution-dyed Nylon and Polypropylene, these carpets resist fading and stay vibrant, even after years of cleaning and everyday use.
