Elm Lodge

Elm Lodge is a purpose built 60 bed luxury residential care home, set in stunning landscaped grounds nestled in the Hampshire countryside. The home comprises of luxury en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, salon, café, restaurant and an impressive lobby to welcome family and guests.

THE AIM

Forest Care are dedicated to meeting residents’ physical and medical needs while also nurturing their social, mental, and emotional well-being—all within a luxurious setting. At Elm Lodge, which provides both Residential and Respite care, Alex Ledger Director of Bright Bay Design was brought in to craft an aspirational yet warm and homely environment.

Each room needed to feature a unique colour scheme and ambience, offering residents a variety of spaces to suit their personal preferences and enhance their comfort.

THE SOLUTION

In order to achieve their aims Forest Care knew that they wanted to install carpets and specifically asked Alex to specify impervious carpets to provide ease of cleaning and longevity.

THE OUTCOME

The combination of these ranges is unique and stunning. It is the first time we have seen Origin, Scape and Manhattan alongside each other to create a feature rug effect in the lobby. Whilst the lounge combinations offer warm and sophistication.

The ranges selected not only create a luxury interior but assist the home in several ways by offering the following benefits:

  • Extreme durability – The Evolution Collection boasts certification to British Standard classification 33, signifying its resilience for “Heavy Commercial Use.” This accreditation ensures its capability to endure substantial foot and wheeled traffic, and rigorous commercial cleaning procedures.
  • Antimicrobial yarn treatment – Both the Equinox and the Evolution Collections feature Bi-Ome®, an advanced permanent antimicrobial treatment specifically crafted to eliminate harmful bacteria, including those responsible for infections such as MRSA and C. Diff.
  • Spill safe – All of the selected carpets have an integral protective impervious membrane, preventing liquid spills from penetrating through to the subfloor, reducing contamination, fungal growth, and unpleasant odours.
  • Naturally sound absorbent – Danfloor carpets exhibit excellent sound absorption characteristics, surpassing a 28dB reduction in sound impact levels. This contributes to the establishment of a “therapeutic environment,” fostering relaxation and effective communication for individuals within the space.
  • Appearance retention – Crafted from solution-dyed Nylon and Polypropylene yarns, the Evolution and Equinox Collections present a colourfast system that locks in vibrant hues. This ensures exceptional colour and light-fastness, maintaining their brilliance even when exposed to rigorous cleaning chemicals.
  • Reduction in fall injuries – In contrast to hard surface floors, carpeting has been shown to decrease injuries resulting from trips and falls. Research indicates that older individuals exhibit greater gait speed and step length when walking on carpeted surfaces compared to vinyl.
