After investing in a danfloor carpet and to help protect your investment it’s important that it’s not only installed using the correct processes and procedures but that the carpet is also well maintained with a regular care and maintenance programme.

Proactive Infection Control
As part of a regular infection control programme danfloor recommends the use of Difficil-S® in areas that are at high risk of contamination, for example within care homes that are carpeted and there is frequent movement of residents to and from hospitals or where there has been an organic spill (blood, faeces or vomit).
danfloor is the only carpet manufacturer to be approved and nominated as a partner of Difficil-S®, one of the most powerful and revolutionary broad spectrum disinfectants that has a 5-log reduction of 99.999% and which kills all known pathogens including MRSA, Clostridium difficile (inc spores), E. Coli and Norovirus.
The main component of Difficil-S® is chlorine dioxide which when mixed with water becomes a dissolved gas enabling it to penetrate the spore cell and kill the bacterium. When compared with chlorine-based products, which are commonly used for disinfection, Difficil-S® has many advantages:
- A low dilution rate means residents and staff do not have to vacate a room whilst using Diffiicil-S®
- No harmful or unpleasant gases are released and, unlike chlorine, Difficil-S® is non-carcinogenic, meaning no cancer causing compounds are produced when used on organic waste
- Difficil-S® has a near neutral ph allowing it to be safely used on all surfaces, including danfloor's carpet range
- Once mixed with cold water, Difficil-S® retains its efficacy of 99.999% against all known pathogens for 14 days
- The product is presented as two small sachets (2 x 12.5g) to provide 10 litres of Difficil-S® which makes it very low bulk for storage and has a shelf life of 30 months
- Difficil-S® costs around 5p per square metre of carpeted flooring to use.
