Frickley Mews Extra Care Scheme

Together Housing Association have invested heavily to produce a state of the art dementia friendly facility which consists of 67 extra care apartments, a restaurant and hairdressers. Using a combination of Economix and Equinox they have created a stylish interior design scheme.

THE AIM

Frickley Mews is part of a scheme to provide more community based care for the elderly across the district; providing greater choice of care services and support for the over 50’s. Frickley Mews aims to offer supported living for people with a range of needs and abilities, including people living with impairments, frailties, disabilities and dementia, within an environment that provides a culture of respect and understanding. Together Housing Association appointed Stanbridge Interiors to help incorporate design principles for dementia friendly environments in addition to providing an extra care setting which is stylish and attractive to all residents and ultimately provides them with their own space to call home.

THE SOLUTION

“We chose danfloor carpets knowing we could rely on the quality and performance of the product. The choice of colours along with the competitive price made both the Economix and Equinox Collection an obvious choice for Frickley Mews” states Finn Lester Managing Director at Stanbridge Interiors. The gentle shades of lilac, grey and mushroom were selected from across Economix, Equinox and Equinox Tones, to compliment the interior design schemes within the bedrooms, corridors, stairways and communal areas, with an additional splash of the 2017 trend colour green provided by Tones’ Winter Green. The performance and appearance retention of both the Equinox Collection and the Economix range will mean that the carpets will withstand the demands of such an environment and maintain their appearance over the coming years.

THE OUTCOME

The development has been sensitively designed to allow people over the age of 50, who have an assessed need for care and support including those living with dementia, to remain independent in their own home for as long as possible. Frickley Mews and Stanbridge Interiors are extremely proud of the look and feel of the development and are confident that the carpets will provide the following benefits:

  • Extreme durability – Economix is certified to British standard classification 33 “Heavy Commercial Use” enabling it to withstand high volumes of foot and wheeled traffic and intense commercial cleaning.
  • Appearance Retention – Manufactured using solution dyed nylon and polypropylene yarns, both the Economix and Equinox Collection offer a locked in colourfast system which ensures superior colour and lightfastness even when subject to harsh cleaning chemicals.
  • Spill safe – Economix and Equinox have an integral protective membrane, preventing liquid spills penetrating through the sub floor, reducing contamination, fungal growth and unpleasant odours.
  • Antimicrobial yarn treatment – Both ranges has been developed to include Bi-Ome® innovative antimicrobial treatment which is designed to kill harmful bacteria including those that can cause MRSA and E-coli.
  • Environmentally conscious – Made with the Econyl® regenerated nylon yarn, Economix is a range that has a strong environmental focus. Manufactured from pre and post consumer waste, including items like abandoned fishing nets, makes Economix 100% sustainable and infinitely regenerable.
